Sam Israël

Sam Israël was born in The Netherlands in 1949 of Jewish parents, who had escaped the Holocaust in hiding. His experiences as a second-generation survivor permeate all his work. He took a degree in law but became a visual artist in his late forties. For the last ten years he has also been composing and performing his own songs, many of the songtexts being intimately related to the themes of his artwork.
